Always keep your mail Inbox empty. Ensure that unwanted or cc’ed emails that are not directly addressed to you are archived. For all other emails that need your attention, use “Schedule” or “Snooze” features to deliver the emails at an appropriate time of your choosing.

Keep your desktop clean. A desktop display is like a kitchen countertop. Bring only the necessary things (files) that you need to work on to the desktop. Once you have completed the activity, move them back to the respective directories.

Don’t maintain any specific to-do list for any tasks that can be completed within two minutes. Any tasks that can be completed in less than 2 min, “Just do it”. Please don’t write it down or maintain and list.

A simple trick to avoid procrastination. Periodically we encounter tiring activities that are lengthier in duration, and we hesitate to start. We normally procrastinate on these activities. To entice to work on these activities, follow the two-minute rule. Then, push yourself to do the work for 2 min, then the flow will take over. So, if you want to do a half an hour physical workout, your brain will find a way to procrastinate. A simple trick is to push yourself to do the 2 min exercise, the rest will follow.

How to avoid time-consuming meetings? We see many meetings can be concluded in 2 to 5 minutes, but people love to occupy the entire allotted time. One way to avoid it is to call the people directly for a couple of minutes and complete your discussion now and then. Don’t wait for a meeting to be scheduled.
